A garden wedding with Scottish flavour right in the heart of Malaysia? :) That was what Carol and Chin Hong’s wedding was all about! This loving couple returned to Malaysia from Scotland where they are based to share their special day with their family and friends in a cosy intimate wedding at the Equatorial Bangi.

Often, garden weddings are synonymous with exotic faraway destinations but this lucky couple found a hidden jewel of a venue, right here in Malaysia, close by the Federal Administrative Centre of Putrajaya. The resort is just a short 20-minute-drive from the Kuala Lumpur City Centre.

This is one of the most beautiful garden wedding set-ups I’ve seen within the grounds of a city hotel itself.

Now come with me to witness this colorful garden wedding right in the city. :)

Firstly, I must apologize for this long overdue blog post as I’ve been travelling quite a bit to cover weddings both overseas and throughout Malaysia, but I’m glad that I’ve finally managed to find some time to upload some photos of this really beautiful Punjabi + Chinese wedding.

What do you get when a sweet petite Chinese girl from Malaysia meets a tall dashing Punjabi guy from New Delhi?

An explosive potpourri of colours, sights, and sounds, when they get married in an elaborate Punjabi wedding ceremony and luncheon, followed by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and wedding dinner, right here in Malaysia.

Susan & Ankush were university mates in the United Kingdom, and coincidentally, both Susan’s and Ankush’s parents said the same thing to them, “Find someone to get married to there before you come back…” and guess what, both of them ended up coming back with each other. Isn’t that such a romantic love story? So, how befitting it is then that the song they’ve selected for their wedding slideshow is ‘Endless Love’.  ;)

Susan and Ankush, congratulations once again. Both of you make a really lovely couple! :)

Thanks for dinner and yes, perhaps we might pop by to London, UK in the future, and if so, we’d definitely come by for a visit, and maybe some family or baby portraiture too. ;)

Now, come with me and enjoy this simply amazing feast of colours, sights, and sounds in this spectacular wedding.

Don’t forget to view the slideshow. :)

Malaysia is fast becoming one of the popular locations in Asia for destination weddings.

What more appropriate venue than at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa at Penang!

With the recommendation of the resort’s Event Manager, Betty Lim, (email: betty.lim@shangri-la.com), I returned to this luxurious resort recently to document the really unique wedding of Mahshid and Chad. The simple yet elegant and romantic wedding, was an East meets West marriage with 30 guests from all over the world, inclusive of children.

During this season, the weather in Penang is supposed to be steaming hot but it unexpectedly started drizzling around 5.00 pm. To some, this might have been cause for panic already but the lovely bride, Mahshid was really cool about it. She just calmly said to everyone, “Let’s have some champagne”, and everyone was having a good time at the lounge. Fifteen minutes later, the rain stopped and the ceremony went on perfectly. That is the fun part of a garden wedding! ;)

The song that I selected for the slideshow is an instrumental version of Ave Maria. This meaningful song was also sung to the lovely couple by the sister of the Groom during the ceremony.

Don’t forget to view the slideshow. It may take some time to load but believe me, it’s worth waiting for! For the best effects, make sure you turn on your speakers to full volume. :)

Every Chinese wedding without bridal door games would somehow be incomplete, but when you find a group of ji mui who dare to go all out to really challenge the hing dai, it is a rare treat indeed… and presents so many photographic opportunities for me!

Alvin and Chin Lee’s wedding might just be one that fits such a pleasant picture! And what’s more, the hing dai are willing to play the bridal games all the way just to please the ji mui. To have such sporting friends like this is a blessing that one should not take for granted. ;)

Since the groom’s house was near Jonker Street, in Melaka, I urged the lovely couple not to miss this opportunity for some artistic portraiture there.

Each quaint building, be it home or shop, and its inhabitants have their own unique history to tell and they are all artists in they own trade.

Ok, enough of my ramblings…. don’t want to start sounding like a long-winded uncle… LOL

Here are some photos and the slideshow to share. Happy viewing!

至少還有你 (As Long As I Have You) by Sandy Lam

This is the romantic love song that the Bride, Pei Lei sang during the wedding dinner to her Groom, Cheng Wei. It is a very meaningful song if you read the lyrics.

Congratulations once again and thanks for letting me be a part of your happy occasion as your wedding photographer.

I’ve also selected this meaningful song for their wedding slideshow. Happy viewing! :)

Meng Hong & Grace are one of the few bridal couples who booked me as early as a year ago, and Grace happens to be the pastor’s daughter! When I was shooting her pre-wedding, I remember her telling me, “Today, you don’t just think of me as Pastor’s daughter, ok? Just shoot as what you normally do.”

Well, when I think about it, I was still kind of hesitant to let down my guard, because I didn’t want to end up receiving a looong lecture from Reverend Eu, for all the kissing scenes in the photoshoot!!! LOL… But then, I decided to take the chance, and lo and behold…

I discovered that this was all based on my pre-conceived idea of how Reverend Eu is. In reality, he is a also a passionate photographer besides being a very down-to-earth and approachable Pastor… ;)

Meng Hong and Grace, I had so much fun shooting your wedding. Congratulations and God Bless! :)

If you are thinking of having a Destination Wedding, Sabah is definitely one of the locations that you should put at the top of your list… pristine white sandy beaches, glorious golden sunsets, and spectacular mountain scenery… all within reach. And the the world-famous diving paradise Sipadan Island is located just off the coast of Sabah as well.

Now I undersand why most of my Sabahan friends always seem to decide to go back to KK to live and work after their short working stint in KL where they face concrete jumgles and tolls that they have to pay in order to be stuck at during rush-hour traffic jams. It’s only people like me who are still unwilling to leave. ;)

Sutera Harbour, is indeed one of the most sought-after wedding locations in Kota Kinabalu… indeed the sunset view in front of the Marina will take your breath away.

Now, let’s take a look at the photos!

When I started processing this batch of photos with a few sepia tones, I couldn’t help but keep selecting even more to be converted into sepia tones…  in the end, I just decided to turn the entire series into sepia tone!

I’m a huge fan of sepia, but not every couple can take a sepia look.

However, for Bryant and Karen, somehow, the classy and jazzy nostalgic look and feel complements them very much. They look cool in colour, but even cooler in sepia! :)

So, I’m only going to upload the sepia tone version in my gallery. How’s that for a change? But don’t worry, you guys get the colour version on DVD too!

Working with both of you was really fun. And Equatorial Hotel is indeed a very popular location for wedding banquets.

Congratulation to both of you, and God Bless! ;)

Don’t miss the slideshow! For the best effects, be sure to turn on your speakers!

Time flies really… shooting your Registration of Marriage Ceremony in February seems like just a few weeks ago.

Both of you sure do have great taste in choice of music, design and location for a wedding. The Westin  KL is such a cool place to get married at!

The series of photos taken in QBA  are one of my personal favorites. How I wish I had more time for even more artistic shots before the ceremony started! It’s every wedding photographer’s dream to shoot such a wedding! ;)

Here are the series of photos and preview slideshow to share. Happy viewing!
